Plans are underway to improve the health services available to the Seddon, Ward and Kekerengu communities.
The Seddon Health Clinic will become a satellite clinic of Dr Mark Foleys’ Blenheim Clinic. New services will be phased
in over the next few months.
The Health Centre will continue to
use the Plunket Rooms and Dr Jan Shapcott will continue to provide medical
care.
To take advantage of these new services you
need to enrol, even if you have used the Seddon Clinic in the past.
Why do I need to enrol?
You need to enrol with the clinic to become entitled to the government funding available through the Marlborough Primary Health Organisation (PHO).
Without this funding your fees can not be
reduced. For more information about the PHO check out www.marlboroughpho.org.nz
How do I enrol?
Enrolling is easy. You simply fill out a form
at either the Seddon or Blenheim Clinics. You can also download (PDF) (WORD) the registration form from this website.
Once enrolled you will immediately be able to
take advantage of lower fees and improved services.
But I already have a GP in Blenheim.
If you already have a GP and wish to stay with them you should not enrol with the Seddon Clinic. You can be seen at the Seddon Clinic but as a
casual patient (ie non enrolled) you will be
charged more as the clinic is not funded to see you.
Prescriptions. Plans are currently underway to provide the option of having your prescriptions faxed to Blenheim and your medication
delivered
directly to the Seddon Clinic. If negotiations are successful arrangements
should be in place within the next 4 weeks.
Who cares for me when the Seddon Clinic is closed?
If you need advice or would like to be seen please call our Blenheim Clinic. Every effort will be made to ensure those who are unwell are seen that
day or allocated a time the following day in Seddon. Currently it is not always possible to be seen the same day for a non urgent problem.
The Wairau Accident and Medical Clinic is
available for emergencies after hours, weekends and public holidays.
How will you access my records?
The medical notes for both the Seddon and Blenheim clinics are stored on a central computer so your notes will be instantly available at both sites.
These notes
are not available at other clinics or the hospital.
What will happen to my records if the computer crashes?
Our clinic has very robust backup systems so even in the event of the main computer crashing your records will be safe. The files are also encrypted
so they can be
only accessed by authorised personnel.
