What is Malathion and How Does it Work ?
Malathion
is an antiparasitic agent that effectively kills the scabies and its eggs.

How Should I Use Malathion ?
. Bath or shower using soap and water to wash skin.
If crusted lesions are present,
a warm bath is helpful.

Dry thoroughly and wait an hour to allow skin to cool and dry.
.
Apply lotion in a thin film to the whole body from the neck down.
Include the
palms and soles.
Pay particular attention to the areas between the fingers and
toes, and under the fingernails and
toenails, the wrists, armpits, genital area and
buttocks.

Ideally the lotion should be applied before going to bed. Leave on for 24 hours.

Reapply the lotion immediately to any area which must be washed during
this
time. Wash
off after 24 hours.

Reapply as above to the entire body 7 to 10 days later.

What Else Do I Need To Do ?

All members of the household and any possible contact persons must be
treated
at the same time whether they seem affected
or not.
.
After washing off treatment, change clothes, sheets and pillow cases,
launder,
and leave aside for 1 week.
Alternatively, launder and iron clothes and bedding,
including mattress, before re-use.

Scabies rarely affects the head of children or adults but may occur in
infants.
Babies and children under 2 years of age should also have their necks,
faces, ears
And scalp treated.
Avoid applying Malathion to the area around the eyes and
Mouth.

Malathion is not recommended for infants younger than 6 months.
