MALATHION - Derbac

 For the Treatment of Scabies

?  What is Malathion and How Does it Work ?

Malathion is an antiparasitic agent that effectively kills the scabies and its eggs.

?  How Should I Use Malathion ?

.  Bath or shower using soap and water to wash skin.  If crusted lesions are present,

        a warm bath is helpful.

.  Dry thoroughly and wait an hour to allow skin to cool and dry.

.  Apply lotion in a thin film to the whole body from the neck down.  Include the

palms and soles.  Pay particular attention to the areas between the fingers and

toes, and under the fingernails and toenails, the wrists, armpits, genital area and

        buttocks.

.  Ideally the lotion should be applied before going to bed.  Leave on for 24 hours.

.  Reapply the lotion immediately to any area which must be washed during this

time.  Wash off after 24 hours.

.  Reapply as above to the entire body 7 to 10 days later.

?  What Else Do I Need To Do ?

.  All members of the household and any possible contact persons must be treated

at the same time whether they seem affected or not.

.  After washing off treatment, change clothes, sheets and pillow cases, launder,

and leave aside for 1 week.  Alternatively, launder and iron clothes and bedding,

        including mattress, before re-use.

.  Scabies rarely affects the head of children or adults but may occur in infants.

Babies and children under 2 years of age should also have their necks, faces, ears

And scalp treated.  Avoid applying Malathion to the area around the eyes and

        Mouth.

.  Malathion is not recommended for infants younger than 6 months.
