Practice Philosophy
The philosophy of this practice is to provide comprehensive and thoughtful medical care to individuals and families. We work hard to keep up-to-date with the latest medical innovations and to bring you efficient personal service.

We aim to listen to your concerns and offer you modern, well-researched advice. It is also our practice philosophy to emphasize nutrition and life style as the basis for healthy living.

We have a comprehensive computerised system that enables us store your clinical notes and laboratory tests securely and enables us to efficiently "keep tabs" on ongoing medical conditions (eg. hypertension, diabetes, glaucoma) and to screen for potential problems (eg. cervical and prostate cancers). You have ready access to modern medical equipment. Heart tracings (ECG’s), Lung Function Tests (spirometry), Body Fat Analysis, Assessment of Glue Ear (Tympanometry), skin lesion checks (dermoscopy), digital mole imaging , liquid Nitrogen Treatment (cryotherapy) suture-less surgery (Surgitron) and more advanced skin surgery (skin flaps and skin grafts) – are all available from within the clinic.

Research
The practice is actively involved in research and is undergoing it’s own research in early detection of melanoma.

You may be asked to participate in some of these research projects.

Services available:
All general practice problems: for newborns, kids, teens through to our older patients. Paediatrics (kids), nutrition and minor surgery are areas of interest. Family planning, pregnancy tests, driving medicals, insurance medicals, lumps and bumps, immunisations, referrals to specialists.

Assessment and treatment of accidents

Skin checks – checking for skin cancer using a skin dermoscope. (Molemax)

Hair Removal - using Intensed Pulse Light - Multilux

Photo-Rejuvenation - Remove Liver or sun spots painlessly and safely with the Multilux

Skin surgery – removing skin cancers, moles, cysts, and ingrown toenails, lumps or lesions that are just unsightly. You do not need to be a regular patient to use this service.
All relevant information would be forwarded to your usual GP so they are kept fully informed of any procedures or lab results.

Body Fat analysis – a simple painless procedure that calculates your weight, total body fat, water content and Body Mass Index (BMI). This can be useful for those wanting to lose weight or on a weight loss programme. It is also useful for athletes in training.

Full Medicals – Life style and nutrition assessment, body fat analysis, full physical, cholesterol, glucose and other blood tests, lung function tests, heart check (ECG), chest x-ray if clinically indicated. We suggest this is done while you are well so you remain well!

E-mailing Results – we can arrange for your lab results and any instructions or comments to be emailed to you. If you prefer you can call our staff.

Appointments:
Appointments can be made after 8:15 am Mon - Fri

After hours service is provided by the Wairau Accident and Medical After Hours service based at Wairau Hospital. Doctor. Call 111 for serious injuries or medical emergencies.

Booking a long Appointment – if you want an insurance medical, review of a complex health problem, a second opinion, or you just have a long "shopping list" please book a longer appointment. This will allow us to give you the attention you deserve. Please bring relevant letters, x-rays and test results. This is an extra charge for extended appointments.

Billing Arrangements:
We expect the account to be settled at the time of consultation. There are no accounts. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, Eftpos or credit card. A $15 administration fee will be added if payment is not paid on the day. If this may cause a problem for you, speak to our reception staff so other arrangements can be made. Interest of 2% per month ,compounding, is charged on all amounts overdue. All costs incurred as a result of debt collection will be passed onto you.
